Scope and Content

Amusing letter to J.W. Oddie [John William Oddie, fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford] returning a drawing to him and criticising his artwork. He states that 'you might as well have drawn the dug ditch of the Chateau d'Arc - without the Chateau!...; You're not an insipid person at all, and mustn't do insipid drawings - after studying under Turner and me!'

Dated at Brantwood, Coniston, Lancashire.
