Miscellaneous Letters I

Scope and Content

Letter to Henry Willett [one of the companions of the St George's Museum, Walkley, Sheffield and a founder of the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery] discussing two different versions of some of Ruskin's verse. He states that he does not 'think it possible to have "too much hate" in speaking of my morals.' He also provides an alternative version of one of his poems, which contains the verse: 'Crab, on a crabbed tree Is what a crab should be I've heard it told - in chapel - Tis not to, with the Apple.'

Dated at Brantwood, Coniston, Lancashire.
