Printed memorandum by William Walker, (teacher of drawing at Owens College), "Observations on the requirements necessary in the Owens College to enable it to better foster the fine arts in this district", outlining case for a College art school and chair in fine art (march 1872); report of Senate on teaching fine art presented to Court, 7 October 1872, discusses Walker's proposal. In the event, the College did not expand provision in this subject [classes in drawing had been provided at the College for many years].
