Minutes of the Joint Committee on the Medical Library. The Committee was made up of representatives of the College and the Manchester Medical Society. In 1875 the Society moved to premises in the College Medical School, bringing with it its superb medical library. The library was made available to the staff and students of the College, but remained in the ownership of the Society until 1930. The volume comprises documentation of the negotiations and agreements by which the Library was transferred to premises at Owens College, and includes minutes of the joint committee, copy correspondence, copy minutes of Court and Council, and of the Royal Manchester Institution (of which the MMS was a sectional department), a copy of the deed of arrangement transferring the library to the College, and the terms and conditions under which it was to be administered.
