Scope and Content

William Crook's journal, December 1823 - April 1824, describing his missionary activities, mentioning the progress of the school, difficulties with the 'arios' - wild young men, the introduction of the use of the cat-o-nine tails for punishment, an attack of illness - 'peepee' (elephantiasis), arrival of supplies from England, the visit of the Tyreman and Bennet deputation, growth of church membership and the death of Mrs Martha Threlkeld [nee Martha Goss].
