Comments of damage done "by the aspersions of that beastly fellow Burton against missionaries on the West Coast", referring to Burton [Richard Burton] as a "moral idiot. His conduct in Africa was so bad that it cannot be spoken of without disgust - systematically wicked and impure and untruthful"; advises bringing Mr Moffat [Robert Moffat] home for a year "to show people what a missionary is...".
