Journal of William Wyatt Gill, July - August 1877, describing his visit to the mission stations of the Cook Islands. Islands visited included; Aitutaki, Tongareva [Penrhyn Atoll], Manihiki, Pukapuka, Palmerston's Island, Rarotonga, Mitiaro, Atiu, Mangaia and Mauke. Journal includes statistics of the population of each island, its church members, numbers of school children, as well as a list of the teachers and record of their salaries. Journal has been edited in pencil. There is a covering letter attached as well as a half page addendum to the text.
