Scope and Content

Discusses instruction of missionaries in Chinese, and makes provision for money to be placed at the disposal of Dr Morrison for Chinese printing and books relating to Chinese literature for the furtherance of this object; makes a request to Dr Morrison to prepare a course of lectures on the language and literature of China and to make arrangements as to a time and place of delivery; makes provision for an "apartment on the second floor of the Mission House" for the stated purpose and with access to Morrison's Chinese Library; requests that Dr Dr Morrison instructs his pupils to include "the best answers to Chinese objections to Christianity, and in the more vulnerable parts of Chinese Paganism".
