- half-yearly reports; discovery of Favorlang dialect, Formosan [Taiwanese] dictionary (Word-boek der Favorlangsch Taal) by Gilbert[us] Happart, 1648 which Batavian Literary Society ordered printed [English translation thereof by Walter Medhurst printed at Parapattan, 1840]; his son Walter Medhurst junior serving with J S Morrison at Macao; mission accounts; LMS finances; half-yearly report; 6-week missionary journey to Sarabang [Serabang], its interior, Surabaya and Passerwang [Pasuruan], great opportunity among people apparently influenced by spread of tracts in and beyond Surabaya, Gottlob Bruckner and Miss Aldersey urged to build up these who have turned their attention to the gospel. Baptism of a convert at Miss Aldersey's house. Reports on Ngoro (60 miles south of Surabaya) and Wisung [?Wijung]
