Scope and Content

Journal of Walter Medhurst, describing his voyage to the west coast of Borneo via Singapore, October 1828 - January 1829. He describes his visit to Potiana [Pontianak] and the Chinese, Malay, and Buggunese settlements there and their people's customs, as well as his journey up river to the gold fields. At each place he records the response of the people to his missionary activities and the books he was distributing. There is also a duplicate copy of this journal.
