Scope and Content

Journal of George Platt, July 1835 - August 1846, describing his visit accompanied by Mr Samuel Wilson, to the Hervey Islands [Cook Islands] - Magnaia, Rarotonga, Aitutake - and Samoa where, he was surprised to find Mr Turner of the Methodist Missionary Society already working there. At Samoa, he set about learning the language and translating the scriptures whilst waiting the arrival of six missionaries and their families sent from England an appointed to Samoa.
