Manuscript account by Charles Barff of the missionary work of Aaron Buzacott

Scope and Content

Consists of the following: Manuscript account of the missionary work of Aaron Buzacott at Rarotonga, between 1830-32 and 1834-47, written by Charles Barff. Barff refers to his initial visit to Rarotoa (Rarotonga) and his meeting with Buzacott in 1830. He comments on Buzacott's work, and the improvements he sees on subsequent visits, for example the setting up of a printing press. Refers in detail to their joint visit in 1834 to Aitutaki and Samoa. (21 ff.) Typed copy of the above account by Charles Barff. (19 pp.) Also a memoir of Charles Barff, in four parts, which details his missionary work from 1816 to 1864. These items were sent to the LMS from Australia in 1949 by Rev. N. Cocks, LMS Secretary in Sydney.
