arrival at Singapore; condition of the mission property; study of Chinese language; introduces Dr Hope, American missionary hoping to visit England; assistance of evangelist Leang A-Fa [Leang A Fa, Leung A-Fa, Leangafa] ; Chinese services and work among boat people; arrival of 2 American missionaries; agreeable climate; work with Malay girls; copy of resolution of Dutch government concerning admission of missionaries into Dutch possessions in the East; land, premises and printing press at Singapore: copies of letters by John Evans, Samuel Dyer and Rev J Tracy [ABCFM].

Malay circular (signed by a Rajah) inviting people of Singapore to send children to the Institution.
