Scope and Content

EXAMINATION AND DEPOSITION: Jane Owen of Pont yr Eidion, Gwalchmai, domestic servant, John Williams of Gwalchmai and John Williams of Menai Bridge, [both in police constables] in the case v. George Thomas and William Greaves accused of stealing two shirts, property of Evan and Thomas Evans. Deponents state the shirts were out drying on a bush with other washing. The accused were seen in the vicinity of Pont yr Eifion carrying a white bag. At Menai Bridge they were taken into custody on suspicion, stripped and searched. They were found to be wearing the under-clothing and a towel. The white bag contained a shawl.
