Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Scottish Realisation Trust Ltd was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1928 as an investment trust with its registered office being in Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, Scotland. The first directors of the company were Sir John Guild and R Pitman with Pitman as chairman. In 1928 , the company purchased all mortgages and real estate held in the United States from the Investors' Mortgage Security Co Ltd , investment trust, Edinburgh, at a cost of £248,000. Sir John Guild was also a director of this company. Investors' Mortgage Security Co Ltd held 4,988 shares of the 5,000 issued by the company. Agents were appointed in the United States of America and Canada and the company specialised in investing in American mineral rights. The Investors' Mortgage Security Co Ltd was managed by Ivory & Sime Ltd , investment managers, with whom they shared the same registered offices along with the Scottish Realisation Trust Ltd .
In 1975 , the company's investment's were transferred back to the Investors Capital Trust Ltd , formerly the Investors' Mortgage Security Co Ltd, and the Scottish Realisation trust Ltd was wound up voluntarily in 1976 .
