Scope and Content

From Bishopsgate Street, London, to Madeley, Shropshire. Financial details are discussed with regard to William's legacy from their uncle Claude Bosanquet.

Mr and Mrs Gilman called on him the other morning. He was sorry that he could not receive them better but the house is being painted and he has only one little room. Also, their brother [Samuel] was writing about their uncle's estate, so he could not show them the usual civilities.

Last year William gave Mary £20 for distribution to the poor and he would like to give her the same sum this year for the same purpose. He has therefore enclosed half of two £10 notes and the next time he writes, he will enclose the other halves.

Reference is made to Miss Hayes's death.
