Scope and Content

From Abiah Darby at Simniside [Sunniside House, Coalbrookdale] to Mary Fletcher at Madeley. Darby is deeply upset by the loss which this [Madeley] parish and Mary Fletcher, has sustained [by the death of John Fletcher]. She is therefore sending these few lines of condolence to the Darby family's 'much esteemed friend and to request of thee to labour to get into stillness and fix thy mind upon the Lord who can help his servants to exercise true faith…' Spiritual matters are discussed in detail.

Darby herself is very poorly, otherwise she would have visited Fletcher in person to express her condolences.

In a postscript, she adds that the family would be only too willing to render any service.
