From Allscott. Jenkins is very sorry that she did not come on Tuesday. It was not her fault ‘for I began to think it a long time since I saw you but I will endeavour to come before the [unreadable word] for I know it will be a long time before I can come afterward’.
Jenkins has asked her mother about Mr Janis [possibly James] and she says that she cannot have more than two men [servants?], one in the house and one outside. Reference is made to Mr Vickers who lives close by the Jenkins family and the farm and who pays his men every three weeks on a Saturday. Vickers could not employ him on a permanent basis although he could give him plenty of work. Janis should come over and see Vickers himself.
The [Methodist] New Connexion ‘is given up on account of there going to hear Mr Dalton and the Lewises are going to join themselves to his class’.
