Scope and Content

From [Charity Tilbury] in Vauxhall, [London] to John Fletcher in Madeley. Spiritual matters are discussed with particular regard to fasting and Lent.

Nine years ago when Fletcher was staying in London at Mrs Wood's house, the correspondent paid him a visit and gave him a "token of love in the simillitude of a little spice. You said how must I take them, spiritually or temporally. I told you, in the spirit. I gave them to you in the spirit of God, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, as an emblem of the three above and as there was three of us below. I prayed in my heart that we three might be as the Trinity ... Oh keep them as they be and never whilst you live, part those three ..." Spiritual matters are discussed in detail.
