Scope and Content

[The handwriting is difficult to read at several points in this letter.]

From Birmingham. Ludlow is sorry to hear that Tooth has been unwell – she thinks of her frequently. Ludlow would welcome the opportunity to speak to Tooth. Spiritual matters are discussed.

Her husband [William] grew much worse after Tooth left and she had cause to be thankful that she did not lose him. He continued unwell for some weeks although his health had been getting better until last Sunday when he came down with flu. He does however seem better this morning. Ludlow herself has been afflicted with a violent cough for some months. Her sister talked of writing to Tooth but she is now ill. She lives in Stourbridge near the chapel.

Ludlow’s love should be passed to [Martha] Stinson.
