Letter

Scope and Content

From an unnamed correspondent [the signature is very difficult to read but may be Mary Fletcher] to [Samuel Bosanquet]. The letter is difficult to understand but contains a request for money to erect a Sunday School on account of a recent influx of business to the [Madeley?] parish and consequent increase in the population. The correspondent has leased a plot of land for twenty shillings a year but is short of money to complete the project - the correspondent has already given ten guineas. Reference is made to £30, £16 and a sum of £50 in Switzerland.

If Samuel is unable to assist, the correspondent will be content with his prayers.

At the bottom of the page is a letter from Samuel Bosanquet [dated 18 Jul 1808] at Forest House, Leytonstone, Essex, to Mary Fletcher. Financial details are discussed.
