Letter

Scope and Content

From Forest House, Leytonstone, Essex [to Madeley, Shropshire]. They arrived home safe the night before last, having had a very agreeable tour. They left Charles in Geneva [Switzerland] with the family with whom Samuel has settled him - he will not however be staying there long as the family actually live in Lyons and are only visiting Geneva. He seems very happy with his situation.

Samuel has received Mary's half year dividend amounting to 69 shillings and 15 pence.

Financial details are further discussed.

Over the page is a letter from William Bosanquet. It would be enough for Mary to send to [their uncle] Claude Bosanquet just one nicely bound copy of the book - his main intent in sending the money was to do Mary a service rather than receive multiple copies. He is sure that Claude would not like his name to appear on the printed list of subscribers as taking a large number of copies.

The money which Mary mentioned as owing to William, was only for a few shillings and not worth bothering about.
