Administrative / Biographical History

William Allard (b.1889) worked in the Egyptian Government Irrigation Service 1910-27. He served as an Intelligence Officer in the Royal Engineers, 1914-18. In 1919 he was seconded to the Sudan. He became Secretary of the Anglo-Egyptian Nile Waters Commission in 1925. From 1927 to 1934 he was in charge of the Government Irrigation Department in Iraq. He returned to Britain in 1934. He retired in 1956.
