Scope and Content

The archive contains three large indexed scrapbooks of articles from leading U.S. publications relating to the Second World War, along with a folder of newspaper cuttings dating from the Second World War, which relate to Winston Churchill.

Administrative / Biographical History

Three of the albums of cuttings were compiled by Edith M. Kempthorne of the Camp Fire Girls, New York, U.S.A. The fourth volume was compiled by Bernard Flexner, lawyer, philanthropist and Zionist leader, and his sister, Mary Flexner.

Acquisition Information

According to the letter of donation, the war volumes compiled by Edith M. Kempthorne, and a volume of cuttings on Winston Churchill compiled by Bernard and Mary Flexner, were donated to the Department of International Politics, University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1949 by Mr. A. Haslam, American Liason Officer, Central Office of Information, London.
