Scope and Content

Diaries of Aylwin Bowen, with one diary written while in Japan, 1923. Written mainly in Letts's diaries, three (1918, 1931, 1933) in the printers W. Straker's diaries, the latter interleaved with unnumbered leaves of blotting-paper. The 1950 volume contains a copy of Bowen's bookplate.

Aylwin (formerly Alfred) Bowen, author of In New Japan (London, 1932) and other works, and printer, of Edmonton and (from 1931) Hounslow, Middlesex.

The diaries were bought from Henry Bristow in 1991.
