COPY LETTER: J. W. Clarke, 69 Priory Farm Road, Hatfield, Peverel, Chelmsford, Essex to Mr Haley. His daughter has send him a cutting from the "Liverpool" re Kingsbridge camp. He was stationed there 18 May 1918 - 1 November 1918. He discusses their reception at the camp, their activities there, living conditions, attitudes of the locals and social activities. Whilst they were there a company of miners had been sent who did not take kindly to the training. At the end of the training his company were posted to Christchurch and put on a course of training for heavy bridging to be thrown across the river Avon. Before the course could be completed the Germans surrended. The camp was disbanded and some were transferred to barracks until discharged. He was about 24 when he joined the L. E. E.'s and is now 88. He suggests the enclosed pass may be of interest and requests its return., (3 October 1979).
