Scope and Content

COPY LETTER: H. A. Davies, Douglas Arms Hotel, Bethesda to Mr A. H. Haley, 245 Hunt's Cross Avenue, Liverpool. The Caernarvonshire Volunteer Regiment was remustered in 1914 and guarded the roads, railway and bridges in the north of the county because of the Irish troubles. He believes a similar Anglesey County regiment must have been raised, and he suggests they may have been based at Beaumaris. He encloses a photograph of Three Royal Anglesey Royal Engineers who have just come off duty after their stint of repairs to Bangor pier, which had been sliced in two by a ship in 1915. He suggests Bangor Council archives may have references of the repairs carried out by the R. A. R. E. He would like the photographs returned, (18 October 1979).
