Scope and Content

Manuscripts and press-cuttings relating to the late Griffith Roberts, 'Gwrtheyrn', Bala. They include essays and notes by Gwrtheyrn on literary and religious subjects, transcripts of Welsh poetry in his autograph, papers relating to the Poor Law, miscellaneous music manuscripts, and a number of Welsh press cuttings concerning Gwrtheyrn.

Administrative / Biographical History

Griffith Roberts ('Gwrtheyrn'; 1846-1915), of Bala, was a poor-law official and author of Pum Plwy' Penllyn. Hanes gweinyddiad Cyfreithiau y Tlodion yn y plwyfydd uchod am y rhan fwyaf o'r ddwy ganrif ddiweddaf, 1720-1887 (Bala, 1897).
