Administrative / Biographical History

The British Naval Expedition, 1828-1831 (Captain Henry Foster) visited Isla de los Estados and the South Shetland Islands charting Deception Island. On mainland Antarctica part of the Palmer coast was roughly charted and surveys were made of Isla de los Estados and southern Terra del Fuego. After Fosters death in Panama, Horatio Thomas Austin took command.
