Administrative / Biographical History

Benefit societies or friendly societies were formed for mutual insurance, among tradesmen and in labour unions, to provide for relief during sickness, old age, and burial expenses. Festiniog Benefit Society, Ffestiniog, Merionethshire, was active from 1898.
