Scope and Content

Letter from William Mellor [(1888-1942), journalist], announcing a ‘Mass Meeting of Labour and Trade Unionists’ to protest against the war and the Government’s decisions. Mellor strongly deplores the political crisis, and the Government’s lack of consultation with its citizens. Asserts that Ramsay MacDonald and Tom Fox, [a local Labour councillor], will attend the meeting. He expresses solidarity [with Scott] and invites him to speak at the meeting on behalf of the Manchester Guardian; advises that those who object to war must stand up and protest.
