Tanzania

Scope and Content

"Travels recording the work of the National Development Corporation for the various publication I started or ran (in particular Jenga). Later Dhamwant Singh engaged as photographer and to set up NDC dark room, studio and photo library. Quality of his work very high, hence good negatives. Two sets of proofs made of his and my pictures, one to enable me to make up pages by remote control when in Zambia, the other for the library. My set damaged by white ants and rebound by me from Singh's original volumes. Except for 120 negatives in this file all my work - about 1100 negatives - left in NDC library. The 120 retained were intended as nucleus of scenic book on Tanzania for publication under Tanzania Publishing House / Macmillan imprint. Other things got in the way and neither the book nor the remote control editing came to pass. More in SAFARI OF 1957". (Mackay, 1992)
