Administrative / Biographical History

West Glamorgan County Council was created in 1974 following the reorganisation of local government. The county of Glamorgan was split into Mid Glamorgan, South Glamorgan and West Glamorgan. West Glamorgan County Council was organized into a departmental structure, including the Property Services Department. The council was abolished in 1996 and two unitary authorities, the City and County of Swansea and the County Borough of Neath Port Talbot now comprise the area of the former county.
