DEEDS CONCERNING LANDS IN MORE THAN ONE COUNTY IN IRELAND AFTER 1737

Scope and Content

After the death of Arthur (III), Earl of

Anglesey in 1737, most, if not all of

his property in Ireland was bequeathed

to his cousin Francis Annesley (VI). The

properties remained with Francis (VI)

and his descendants, gradually being

sold off until the early 20th cent.

The few documents in this group suggest

that almost all the Irish estates,

except those in Co. Kildare, were sold

off in the late 1860s by Arthur Annesley

(XIII), Viscount Valentia, perhaps in

connection with purchasing more land in

Oxfordshire.
