ARTHUR ANNESLEY (IV), 4TH BARON ALTHAM (C.1690-1727)

Scope and Content

Arthur Annesley (IV) was the eldest son

of Richard Annesley, the 3rd Baron

Altham, and inherited his titles in

1701.

Arthur (IV) seems to have lived in some

poverty and obscurity. This had

unfortunate consequences on his death in

1727, as, although his brother Richard

then inherited his titles, in the 1740s,

one James Annesley was able to claim

that he was Arthur (IV)'s son (see

Introduction).

The only two papers here concern

Arthur (IV)'s financial dealings with

his cousins.
