After the death of Caryl Annesley,
Viscount Valentia in 1949, the male line
of the descendants of Francis Annesley
(VII) was extinct, and the title of
Viscount Valentia passed to the
William Monckton Annesley, the senior
descendants of Francis (VII)'s brother
Martin. There are no papers concerning
this branch in the main collection, but
there are several in SL18 (the Aplin and
Hunt papers). These include papers about
the Cotton family (from whom Martin's
wife Mary Hanbury was descended), and
the affairs of Martin's second son
Arthur Henry (d. 1792), from whom the
present Viscount Valentia is descended.
