ARTHUR ANNESLEY (VIII) (1711-1786)

Scope and Content

Arthur Annesley (VIII) was a younger son

of Francis (VI). He inherited the house

at Lincolns Inn (see E6/10/1D), and

became a lawyer. He never married, and

on his death in 1786, his property was

mainly divided between his nephew

Francis (VIII) and great-nephew Arthur

(X).

In addition to his London house, Arthur

(VIII) bought much land in Huntington-

shire (see E6/12).

The papers here mainly concern settling Arthur

(VIII)'s estates after his death.

NOTE: A copy of Arthur (VIII)'s will may

be found at SL11/1/1L/1. SL18 (the

Aplin and Hunt papers) include other

versions of his will, and a settlement

of 1764 concerning his mother Ann

Gayer's family property.
