GEORGE ANNESLEY, 2ND EARL MOUNTNORRIS AND 9TH VISCOUNT (1771-1844)

Scope and Content

George Annesley was the eldest son of

Arthur Annesley (V), and inherited his

titles on his death in 1816.

George had 2 sons, but they both

predeceased him. On his death in 1844,

therefore, the title of Earl Mountnorris

became extinct, but that of Viscount

Valentia passed to his distant cousin

Arthur Annesley (XI), the eldest

descendant of Francis Annesley (V).

The papers here mostly concern the

question of who was to succeed him to

his titles.
