Scope and Content

Banner and pole (pole detached, varnished wood with fleur de lis metal finials; cord attached to pole), pieced panels of blue and purple damask weave silk (?) ground, blue plain weave cotton (?) lining, design : letters 'G.F.S'', single lily stem and the word 'DENBY' embroidered in raised satin stitch of yellow dyed silk (?), each vertical border appliquéd in shades of cream and green satin weave, outlined in laid and couched threads of mercerised cotton (?) in matching colours, borders accentuated with woven braid in blue and white chequered pattern silk (?), cord (attached to pole), identical to that trimming the banner (ends knotted to create tassel effect), each vertical edge trimmed with cord of blue and cream silk (?), lower edge of banner trimmed with fringe of alternating bands of purple and cream silk (?), five tabs of purple damask hanging mechanism.
