Metal cross, in a Celtic style, in the middle is a round ball with a rope style boarder, metal ring at the top.
The top prong inscribed 'AWARD OF', bottom prong inscribed 'MERIT;
On the reverse along the shaft of the cross is inscribed 'HOME ARTS AND INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION'
The item came attached to a piece of paper: 'This cross has been presented to the Society by Mrs J Hupper and Mrs Laura Cumming, the niece and great-niece of Miss Kate Dennis. Miss Dennis was awarded this Cross by the GFS in 1909 at the Home Arts Exhibition for knitting. A photograph of her and the letter sent from GFS to her with the Cross can be seen in the General Secretary's Office. '
