Scope and Content

Papers include a diary of a trip to South Africa in 1905, family correspondence, offprints of papers, and press cuttings. The photographic collections include two photograph albums, loose prints, soft negatives, and over 700 glass plate negatives.

Admitted 1895, BA in Natural Sciences (first class) in 1899. Elected Frank Smart student in Botany at Gonville and Caius College in 1899. MA 1903. Botanist to the University expedition to the Siamese Malay States 1899-1900. Curator of University Herbarium 1900-03. Professor of Botany University College Aberystwyth 1904-14; Queens University Belfast 1914-19; Birmingham University 1919-29. President of the Ecological Society 1921. Married 1913 Lajla, daughter of Dr Klintberg of Visby , Gothland, Sweden and had issue.

Correspondence was arranged thematically by Yapp's family; glass plate negatives retain Yapp's original classification.
