Correspondence and papers relating to the appointment of a Chair in Industrial Administration. In the early 1950s there was growing recognition of the need for improved management in industry and the growth of management as a field of study in universities, leading to proposals for the introduction of a chair. The papers include conditions of appointment, application forms and minutes of the Committees of Recommendation. Reginald Revans (1907-2003) was appointed as Chair of Industrial Administration in 1954.
