File: Organ

Scope and Content

Papers relating to the College organ, which was acquired from a fund set up for the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Technology in 1930. The file primarily concerns the use of the organ, rather than the original commission. The College ran a regular programme of public recitals, and the organ was also hired by outside bodies including the BBC. The organ was built by T E Hughes of Bradford. A small committee oversaw use of the organ, and H Lowery (Physics) was the first College organist, who helped design it
