Scope and Content

The Corrosion and Protection Centre was established in 1972, based upon the Corrosion Science Division of the Department of Chemical Engineering. The Corrosion and Protection Centre Industrial Services (CAPCIS) were subsequently set up in August 1973. The file includes a report to UMIST Council by the Head of the Centre in April 1975, details of research in progress in 1974-75 and minutes of the CAPCIS Steering Committee. Other papers relate to the future of CAPCIS, a proposed Master of Science course in Terotechnology, pump-priming grants from the UGC and proposed Wolfson Foundation support for interdisciplinary research in corrosion and protection.
