Correspondence and papers relating to the appointment of a Chair of Textile Chemistry. This chair was created to further develop the area of textile technology in Manchester through teaching the processes of dyeing and finishing and carrying out research projects on behalf of industrial firms. Papers include application forms, letters of reference and minutes of the Committees of Recommendation. Raymond Peters (1918-1995) was appointed as Professor of Textile Chemistry in 1955.
