Reputed coffin of Llewelyn ap Iorweth, Prince of Wales

Scope and Content

The coffin was first placed in Conwy Abbey in 1240 but was moved to Maenan Abbey in 1284. On the Dissolution of the Abbey in 1537 it was moved to Llanrwst and was lost, not being recovered until the 19th century. By that time the lid and the remains had been lost. Today it is preserved in Gwydir Chapel.
