Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Hout Bay Public Library, Cape Town, South Africa, was originally planned and run as a library/community centre by Margaret Mc. L. Thomas. After her death, the library building was bequeathed to the community specifically for library use and opened as the Thomas Library in 1964. A new building was completed in 1989 to cope with increasing demand.
