Scope and Content

Green cloth album with 'Album' embossed on front cover containing 144 photographs of students and staff Bedford Physical Training College for the period September 1909-August 1910. Some photographs are captioned.

The images show scenes from life at the College and include the following: students playing hockey, lacrosse, netball and tennis, engaged in dance demonstrations for the Dargason, Passepied and Stanes Morris and gymnastics displays; students and staff at picnics, boating on the river Great Ouse, cycling and on excursions to Northill, Bedfordshire on Good Friday (25 March 1910) and Southill, Bedfordshire on 14 July 1910 (after the anatomy final); senior students dressed in theatrical costume for their performance of 'Shades of Night'; group photographs of junior students 1909-1910, 1st XI, 3rd XI and members of county hockey teams, students wearing appropriate costume and demonstrating movement for the Galliard, Highland & Scottish, Minuet, Morris Dancing, Princess Royal, Sailors Hornpipe, Sarabande and Scotch Reels; 37 Lansdowne Road: interior of gymnasium and senior study room; scenes from Demonstration Day held 18 June 1910 and Holiday Week.
