Scope and Content

Green cloth album with 'Photo-Album' embossed on front cover containing 102 photographs of students and staff of Bedford Physical Training College for the years [1909-1910]. The photographs are of variable quality and size and have been randomly pasted into the album suggesting this is the personal album of a student.

The images show scenes from life at the College and include the following: students playing hockey, netball and tennis, engaged in gymnastics displays; students and staff cycling and on an excursion to Northill, Bedfordshire; students dressed in theatrical costume for fancy dress dance or play and includes a Senior student dressed in theatrical costume for performance of Shades of Night ; group photographs of Junior students 1909-1910, 1st XI cricket team, 1st XI hockey team, lacrosse, netball and tennis teams, students wearing appropriate costume and demonstrating movements for the Galliard, Highland & Scottish, Minuet, Morris Dancing, Sailors Hornpipe and Sarabande; 37 Lansdowne Road: interior of senior study room; scenes from Demonstration Day held [18 June 1910]; the skeleton 'Perkins'; 'portrait-style' photographs of individual students or staff.
