Boards of Studies

Administrative / Biographical History

Boards of Studies were constituted as Sub-Committees of the Professional Committee. Their main function was to approve college syllabuses, to make arrangements for the B.Ed. qualifying examination, to appoint external examiners and to provide a forum for discussion between college representatives and the examiners.

The work of the Boards of Studies was much reduced in the 1970s when colleges began to look elsewhere for validation of their new degree courses. They ceased to exist after October 1977.
